Michelle Locke is a highly regarded Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Middlemore Hospital with a sub-speciality interest in breast reconstruction. She qualified in New Zealand and gained extensive Fellowship experience at prestigious plastic surgical practices in North America. She is involved in the delivery of both elective (planned) and acute (emergency) plastic surgical treatment for the greater Auckland region. Her clinical role includes supervising new graduate doctors and teaching plastic surgery trainees.
Michelle is a Senior Lecturer in Surgery with the University of Auckland and has continued her involvement in fundamental scientific research since completion of her Doctorate of Medicine. Her current research interests include skin engineering, keloid scars and radiation damage. She is focused on bringing research developments from bench to bedside. To this end, she is actively involved in creating greater collaboration between clinical Plastic Surgeons and scientific researchers.
As part of her role with the University of Auckland, Michelle also sits on several curriculum development committees at the Medical School and contributes to the examination of medical students and junior doctors. She is married with two children.

She became interested in the safety and efficacy of aesthetic procedures after witnessing complications during her work in Emergency Medicine and Ophthalmology.
